PINO SPAGNOLO
For over 30 years, Pino Spagnolo has been working in the field of Industrial Design,
developing designs for important Italian and European manufacturers of household
articles and appliances, and collaborating with famous companies in various sectors,
such as shipyards Gobbi, Alfamarine, Dalla Pietà, C.C.Y.D., etc.
Pino Spagnolo was born in Carmiano (in the province of Lecce) in 1948. After obtaining
a degree in Architecture from the Politecnico di Torino in 1974, he founded SIGMA
DESIGN in 1978, focusing on all the areas of industrial design: production, advertising
communication, packaging and image. Today Pino Spagnolo carries out research and
projects that are more and more innovative, helping “the Italian style achieve
a leading role”. Design is seen as a synthesis of aesthetics, functionality,
technology and ergonomics. His design approach begins with the pencil - a simple,
yet unique tool that ignites the creative spark - and continues with prototyping,
which is essential to bring the initial project to final completion. Many shows
have been dedicated to him and he has received many recognitions from important
institutions, such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Metropolitan
Museum of Modern Art in New York, and has held several one-man design exhibitions
in European capitals.
